A fine day, cloudy but warm. The forecast claimed it would clear up by 4:00pm and it did. A small show with lots of noise, the display arena(?) close to us and the bandstand further away. A country show with country folk. I scrounged some cotton wool from the St. John booth, but they don't have that anymore and gave me some non woven dressing in a surgical pack, it took some cutting up to put in my ears, Dave just took his hearing aids out.
Lots of singing and dancing in the arena, a good show there if you are young enough and deaf enough to appreciate it.
The Sun came out at 4 as promised and looked well, but only one tiny spot and a tiny prominences that came and went dependant on the very light haze. On display we had Dave's 6" refractor with a white light filter, the PST, Rhys's 8" Celestron and the big binoculars, all working well and all seemed popular. All the usual side stalls were there, cakes, food clothes etc. etc., and a display of old cars and tractors. The site was good but ringed with tall conifers so we couldn't use the telescopes for looking far enough to impress.
